Key features

  • Inputs for goal amount, what you've already saved, your monthly contribution and an optional annual return of up to 15%.
  • An “Invest my savings” toggle that compounds the balance monthly at (1 + rate)^(1/12) − 1 — switch it off for a plain 0% cash jar.
  • Headline stats: time to goal in years and months, the calendar month you'll make it, and total contributed with interest broken out.
  • Milestone chips showing the month you cross 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of the goal.
  • A balance chart with a dashed goal line and a contributed line, plus a year-by-year table.
  • Presets for classic goals: a $10k emergency fund, a $2.5k laptop and a $60k house down payment.

How it works

  1. Define the goal

Enter the target amount and what's already in the pot — the progress bar fills as saved / goal.

  2. Add the monthly plan

Set your contribution and, optionally, an annual return with investing switched on.

  3. Read the date

The tiles show months remaining (e.g. “3 yr 8 mo”), the goal month-year, and total contributed including interest.

  4. Track the milestones

Chips mark when you cross each quarter of the goal; the chart plots the full journey to the dashed target line.

Tips for better results

  • If the plan can't get there within 100 years, the tool says so outright — raise the contribution or switch investing on and rerun.
  • Turn investing off to model a pure cash jar at 0%, or on with a conservative rate to approximate a savings account.
  • The goal date assumes deposits land at each month-end and the rate stays constant — re-check after pay rises or windfalls.
  • The 50% milestone's month makes a good check-in date for shared savings goals with a partner.
